Possibile dottorato presso ICCOM-CNR

A Ph.D. position at the Institute of Organometallic Compounds (ICCOM-CNR) in Florence is available starting from the beginning of 2012, under the supervision of Dr. Andrea Rossin and Dr. Maurizio Peruzzini. The Ph.D. will be focused on both physical and chemical hydrogen storage; the former will be developed in the field of Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) synthesis, characterization and H2 sorption tests, while the latter will be represented by in-depth experimental and computational studies of ammonia-borane and amino-boranes activation by organometallic complexes containing mid-late transition metals. The ideal candidate should possess a Master Degree (or equivalent) in Inorganic Chemistry, with experience in the synthesis of air-sensitive organometallic compounds using the common Schlenk glassware and techniques under inert atmosphere. Basic knowledge of multinuclear (1H, 31P, 19F, 11B) NMR spectroscopy will also be well-accepted. Finally, additional practice in the following fields will be appreciated and will represent an additional positive candidate evaluation: (a) simple organic synthesis (Sonogashira, Stille and Suzuki C-C coupling, handling of organolithium reactive intermediates) for the creation of tailor-made MOFs spacers; (b) single-crystal and/or powder X-ray diffraction together with crystal structure resolution; (c) DFT calculations using the ordinary Gaussian and ADF software for molecular modeling of reaction mechanisms (transition state and energy minima searches for a reaction path). La richiesta di formazione per periti chimici negli Istituti Tecnici Industriali è andata scemando di gran carriera. Certamente il calo è fisiologico nella misura in cui possa riguardare tutti gli indirizzi industriali della scuola secondaria, visto il ritorno quasi costante, o meglio la scelta comunque crescente del Liceo.
