Scheda Membro del Direttivo

Placido Franco
(Divisione di Chimica Analitica)

Università di Bologna

Placido Franco is a second year PhD student in Analytical Chemistry at the University of Bologna, in the research group of Professor Aldo Roda. He studied at the University of Catania and then at Bologna, where in 2014 he graduated with honor. His research activity is focused on the development and validation of analytical methods based on liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry for the quali-quantitative analysis of natural/synthetic molecules into natural and complex biological matrices. This kind of research is aimed at understanding the metabolism of target active molecules, their pharmacokinetics and biodistribution, in order to assess the safety and the therapeutic applicability. He is planning to spend some time abroad with the aim of extending its personal skills and get in contact with different research groups. He is author of two publications in peer-reviewed journals, in one case as first author, and presented two oral communications in national congresses. He is board member in the Young Group of the Italian Chemical Society, representing the Analytical Chemistry Division. As member he is determined to improve the visibility of the Young Group, to propose initiatives for a better involvement of a larger number of members and to adequately represent the importance of the analytical chemistry in the national scene. In his free time, he tends to spend much time in sportive activities, especially basketball, as he plays in a basketball team in a minor division league.
